LGD 030: Hope-Filled Joy

Joy…we all want it, but sometimes it eludes us. During tough times, laughter and joy can help reset our moods.

What captured my heart about this photograph is the little boy’s laughter and smile – it is infectious!

As I stopped for a moment and took in the photograph, I remember times when I was this little boy. Cute, stylish, and full of laughter and smiles. As I have gotten older, I still value those qualities this little boy exudes, but life has proven a bit more taxing.

Today, Romans 15 reminds us that our joy is in Christ, and that with joy we also have peace. This joy should be so infectious that is billows from the depths of our souls.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Romans 15:13

Don’t you just want to laugh when you see this kid?

Laughter eases pain. A well-timed smile changes our whole disposition. Even though times are tough, we need to exude joy.

Today, take a few minutes to watch something funny or look through old photographs – maybe even your past hairstyles.

I don’t have to look too far to get a good laugh, I just have to look in the mirror and see the crazy hair I have going on due to the lack of a barber.

As you enter the weekend, hope is around the corner. Let your light shine before men and women so that your joy is infectious during this dark time.

You are fearfully and wonderfully made – this alone should give us joy to celebrate. Have a blessed weekend and live a life of joy!

Prayer: Lord, thank you for joy and laughter and smiles. Help me to live an infectious life so that others may see You living in me and ask why I have so much joy. You are the reason for my hope and joy! Give us a great weekend! Amen!
