LGD034: Heaven and Earth

Milky Way Galaxies

Living in the city, we deal with a great deal of light pollution. It’s fantastic when you get outside the city limits, and the night sky seems to take on a life of its own.

When I think about heaven, I picture beauty and grace sweetened with a little elegance. This is why I have recently loved traveling to Montana during the summer. It’s the night sky.

It’s like God is dancing with you when you see the stars dance in the moonlight or a shooting star. In the morning light, the golden hour, the mist settles in over a lake or a meadow and it’s just peaceful.

Today’s scripture gently reminds us that the things of earth are temporal, and our home is heavenward.

‘Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.”

Colossians 3:2

As you go throughout the day, take a few minutes to look heavenward, and thank God for the beautiful day that is before you.

In the evening, take a step outside and look at the moon. If you are further out, you might even see a few stars dancing in the moonlight.

Let’s rest in the assurance of who God is – the creator of all things!

Prayer: Lord, thanks for creating day and the night. Thank you for showing us the beauty of the season, days and the night sky. Let us rest in your hands. You are an amazing God. Help us to keep our eyes on you, and be reminded that this is just a temporary body and home. Amen!

I am the host of an ABF Lifegroup - a collection of folks doing community and life together. We are a ministry of Agoura Bible Fellowship. When I am not leading this group, I love to travel, take photographs, share stories, and design workspaces that matter.
