LGD 035: Faith

Stainglass Cross in a Cemetery

Now, more than ever, our faith is being tested. The cross is the symbol of hope, although some people don’t see it that way.

The author of Hebrews shares in chapter 11,

“Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.”

Hebrews 11:1

When we put our faith in someone, we trust they will support us and back our play. Regret is a real thing. We look at ourselves and wonder if we just hadn’t done that or did this, life would have turned out differently.

That’s true, but regret is only temporal.

Andy Stanley says,

“Fewer regrets, better decisions.”

Wow, that is so true. Faith reveals what is in our hearts. It showcases whether we believe something to be true or we are just paying it lip service.

Many times, I have paid lip service to my faith. I wanted to believe what I said to someone, but in my heart it wasn’t there.

The disciples walked and talked with our risen Savior. We place our faith in the truth of what we read in scripture. We did not see it with our own eyes, yet we still believe.

Every day, we place our faith in something. It could be our vehicles or our work or you fill in the blank; however, these are things. We need to keep our eyes on Jesus, the author of our faith.

Today, take a few minutes to rest and meditate on Hebrews 11:1. Let it wash over you and give you comfort. Our faith guides us. We are evidence of God’s love to the world.

Prayer: Lord, I often lose my way, but I stand firm in my faith. Please let this scripture wash over me today so I can be a testimony to those around me. Thank you for what you did on the cross. Amen!
