LGD 043: Declaration

Man singing on microphone

Some say it out loud. Others cry with friends. Many have walked the center aisles of stadiums and churches. What do all of these people have in common?

They have declared that Jesus is Lord in their lives!

No hype man is needed, but all have bent a knee to declare their dedication to their Savior.

In our scripture today, Paul shares,

“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Romans 10:9

We often think it has to be a powerful prayer, where the earth shakes and the heavens dance a jig to become a believer. But this scripture states clearly what you have to do.

Declare with your mouth. Speak it from your heart, your head, and your mouth. When we express with our lips something it helps to bring life to it.

We take ownership it when we speak it.

Believe in your heart. Anybody can say something, but when you speak and believe it, you put power behind your words

Save – the result of declaring and believing with your whole heart is you will be saved.

Many folks that come to faith in their living rooms, at church, at a funeral, or in a stadium or somewhere in between. Our faith journeys are different, and what I love about God is He loves doing things differently than what we expect.

Where are you on this faith journey?

You may have crossed over and are walking with God. For others, you might be one tiny step away from living eternity with Jesus. We cannot push someone over that line, but we can walk with them.

Join someone on their faith journey today.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for pursuing and calling us to you. I ask that you would help me be a light in a dark world. Help me to live differently so others can come to know you. Guide me each step of today. Amen!

I am the host of an ABF Lifegroup - a collection of folks doing community and life together. We are a ministry of Agoura Bible Fellowship. When I am not leading this group, I love to travel, take photographs, share stories, and design workspaces that matter.
