Life should be fun and rewarding. Somewhere along the way, stress and hardship joined the party and killed the vibe.

Solomon says,

“So I realize that the best thing for people is to be happy. They should enjoy themselves as long as they live.”

Ecclesiastes 3:12

At the end of our lives, we won’t wish we worked more or even partied more. We hope our lives were full of meaning, purpose, and life-change.

Solomon continues,

“God wants everyone to eat and drink and be happy in his work. These are gifts from God.”

Ecclesiastes 3:13

God’s design for work includes being fulfilled in our purpose to be excellent in what we do.

As more Americans become jobless, our hearts break for those that desire work, but cannot find it. However, we have hope and can rest in how Solomon concludes this section.

He says,

“I know anything God does will continue forever. People cannot add anything to what God has done. And they cannot take anything away from it. God does it this way to cause people to honor him.”

Ecclesiastes 3:14

We may not see it right away, but God has purpose for this season of our lives.

Maybe…

  • You have unfinished business
  • You need to reconcile a relationship
  • You need to release a dream to God
  • You are preparing for a change
  • The best is just around the corner

God doesn’t say life will be easy, but He does promise that He will walk alongside you. He will never give you more than you can handle, even when it feels like the world is resting on your shoulders.

God is at work during this season, and there is a season and time for everything.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for the beauty of today. Help me to recognize what you are doing in my life during this season. Thank you for your provision and guidance. We love you. Amen!
