LGD 101: Power In Weakness

Each time I travel on a mission trip, I realize how much control I give up. There are so many moving pieces that if you try to control every little detail, you end up going crazy.

Mission trips are one of the most rewarding travel experiences you can take. As a leader of our Mexico mission trips, I say it’s the best vacation trip you will take this year.

Helping people is rewarding, not just for the families who we serve, but for what we learn about ourselves.

In 2019, our Mexico Missions Team participated in two house builds. Sleep is an afterthought , and I wouldn’t change a thing. When we saw the smiles on the faces of families we served, it makes everything right.

Like anything, things don’t always go spectacular whether you are doing God’s work or serving kids at school.

When we feel like we want to throw in the towel, God reminds us of a powerful truth.

Paul shares,

“Each time he said, ‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.’ So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses so that the power of Christ can work through me.”

2 Corinthians 12:9

God’s power is displayed when we are at our weakest. The world says we need to be strong and display it. God says, My grace is all you need.

How comforting for us. We need God’s mercy and His grace. Each day we mess up or say something we wish we could take back or are feeling overwhelmed.

God whispers…My grace is all you need.

Yes, Lord, but my world is falling apart. I just failed my exam, and now I won’t get into the right school.

God whispers…My grace is all you need.

My marriage is over, Lord. What am I going to do now?

God whispers…My grace is all you need.

A relative is lying in a hospital bed, and I don’t know what to do.

God whispers…My grace is all you need.

God’s power is magnified in our lives when we are at our weakest. Cry out to Him, and ask for His help. He will be with you.

When you don’t know what to say, ask God to whisper…My grace is all you need. Let that phrase was over you today.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for your love and grace in my life. Thank you for strengthening me when I am weak. When I don’t know what is next, please whisper to me, My grace is all you need. Amen!

  1. Thanks, Dave. Kelly encouraged me to start reading these. I’m already doing a read-through-the-Bible and three different devotions, but yours is quick and worth it.
