The Lord knew we would be prone to anxiety, stress, and trouble. He knew that we would let the troubles of this world weigh us down.

We are one day removed from the election. Although I must confess that I rarely looked at the evening results, there was palpable anxiety among people throughout the country.

In the gospel of John, Jesus says,

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

John 14:27

Wow, these words are what we need to hear right now, especially in light of the year we have experienced.

Sometimes I forget to lay my burdens, troubles and anxiety down.

You think I would have this figured out by now, but I don’t—more than anything, Jesus wants us to come to Him when we are unsure of our way.

He is the way, the truth and the life.

His words should echo in our ears – let not your hearts be troubled. I have said these words often, and sometimes we need to hear Jesus whisper them to us.

Today, listen for His sweet voice whispering in your hearts – let not your hearts be troubled – my peace I give you.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for the gentle reminder of Your peace, which passes all understanding. Thank you for taking my burdens upon you to lighten my load. Give me peace today, and please help me to reflect You in my interactions today. Amen!
