Many people joke about “selling your soul to the devil,” but the reality is some people would exchange their soul for one night of…you fill in the blank.
Our souls are precious, and Jesus died on the cross for each one of us. If we were not precious to Him, He wouldn’t have sacrificed for us.
In the gospel of Mark, Jesus shares the path to the cross. He talks about how we need to deny ourselves and take up our cross.
He asks the crowd,
“What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?”
Mark 8:36
The trappings of this world are just that traps. At some point, we all fall victim to something that traps us in this world.
Jesus wants to know if its worth it?
Are things of this temporal world more glorious than an eternity with Him?
So I ask you today, are things of this world more important than spending an eternity with Christ?
The Lord came to seek and save those who are lost. Let us point someone towards eternity instead of away from it.
Prayer: Lord, thanks for sending your Son to die for my sins. Please help me to replace the things of this world with the things of eternity. Give us a restful weekend. Amen!
