LGD 167: Bought With A Price

Happy New Year’s Eve – we made it. It is the last day of 2020. Yippee!

As you watch football and set your sights on 2021, our thoughts turn towards New Year’s Resolutions and goals.

Many goals and resolutions center around health, wellness, finances, and careers.

Paul says,

“Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.”

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

In the new year, many folks (including myself) will make goals having to deal with health and wellness.

I have become a bit lazy with my physical fitness, and I would like to fix that this coming year. As a by-product, working out will help create discipline and aid mental health as well.

Sometimes we forget that our bodies are a temple that the Holy Spirit dwells within. Honoring our bodies honors the Lord because we were bought with a price – Christ’s sacrifice on the cross.

My encouragement for each of us in 2021 is to remember our bodies are the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. Let’s ask the Holy Spirit to help us be disciplined with our minds and bodies while growing in our relationship with the Lord.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for Paul’s reminder to live a disciplined life and keep our bodies strong and in shape. Please help us in 2021 to draw closer to you. Thank you for seeing us through 2020. Amen!

I am the host of an ABF Lifegroup - a collection of folks doing community and life together. We are a ministry of Agoura Bible Fellowship. When I am not leading this group, I love to travel, take photographs, share stories, and design workspaces that matter.
